HairDos.Com History

HairDos.Com was an idea developed by Tom & Carol Chambers in 1996. Carol had begun to wear her hair shorter and shorter. She continued to buy the supermarket hair magazines hoping to find a single picture of her next style. In steps her husband, Tom, to save the day. "Surely there is a website out there that has a searchable database of hairstyle images!", he said. They sat down at the computer and began their search. After about an hour of searching it became obvious that there were no websites that catered to hairstyle images or finding salon professionals. Tom began work on a database structure and webpages that allowed visitors to search by length, color and texture. After a few months HairDos.Com was up and running. The original site was not created for profit. It was merely a 'hobby' site for Tom and Carol.

The site grew in popularity rapidly to the point where the site caught the attention of CNNstyle, BBC and numerous other reporting media. The site went through several changes while it was out of Tom and Carol's direct control. Unfortunately, the site began to stagnate during that time.

The good news! In late 2004, Tom & Carol regained control of the site and began building a business plan around the site. In 2005 the site was given a much needed update in look and feel. In late 2005 Tom & Carol began adding images to the database while removing some of the older 'dated' images. In 2006, Tom and Carol have begun to add dozens of new styles each month. They have found a reliable source of images....themselves! Tom had been in photography for several years and decided the best way to add hairstyle images was to take them himself.

Tom and Carol happened upon a local salon and have developed a working relationship with the owner and staff. Ciao Bella Salon in Warner Robins Georgia. Lisa Filla is the owner and you won't meet a nicer person. It is the goal of Tom and Carol to continue this partnership path and to build similar relationships with other photographers and salon professionals across the USA and the world.

Tom and Carol have two lovely daughters. Kathryn and Julie. Both are featured in the hairstyle database. Carol is also featured in the database. Tom, well, if he had more hair he might be a HairDos.Com candidate. He's quite happy being behind the camera.

HairDos.com Today - HairDos.Com is adding new styles weekly. Daily visitor counts are increasing. We desire to bring clients and salon professionals together through our website. We promote the salon professional and their work. We will begin having weekly T-shirt/product giveaways for our visitors June 15, 2006. Tom and Carol have so many plans for the site. However, 'things' usually cost money so, the plan is to raise funds from advertising on the site. As those revenues grow, HairDos.Com will grow along with it's features and functionality.
